Week 4
Week 4 Updates
And the Crying Continues...
Well, Sammy continued crying into this week. In fact, he even got worse. Not that we didn't appreciate all the advice that we got, but none of it make a bit of difference. At the end of our ropes, we finally contacted our Pediatrician. They told us to come on in.
Sammy weighed in at 8 lbs 10 oz, which is right on track for this time. "Is he getting enough food," is the first question that they ask. He obviously is, so what's next?
After a lot of questions and poking & prodding, it came down to, "I dunno." I expected as much, but it's nice to hear the expert declare it. He said that there was nothing that he could find wrong with Sammy and that left him with one question...whatcha' eatin'?
I expected this too. Most of what I found online suggested that most of what people call Collic is really food-related problems. The doctor suggested that this might be the case. He suggested that Moon stay away from garlic, cabbage, green leafy vegetables, onions, tomatoes, and dairy. I don't know about you, but that leaves very little that we can eat. Every meal prepared in our house has garlic and onions and likely some of the other no no's as well.
So, this is where we are. Food is no longer fun and we still have a crabby kid on our hands. It was time to experiment with some of the toys we already had and some that we recommended to us.
The winners, so far, have been a sling and a swing. They have had differing results, but in generl we've both been a lot more productive. The sling allows you to carry the baby in a hands free manner. That makes doing choirs around the house much easier. The swing just puts Sammy right to sleep. In fact, he's sleeping now and I'm off to bed :)
