First Solid Food
Yum, Yum, brown rice mush! Sammy Finally knows the joy of solid food and he loves it. I can't figure out why. It tastes like crap. Of course, I have it before breast milk is added. Maybe that's the secret. Click Here to view movie in Quicktime format. It's around 30MB, so only do this if you're willing to wait.

He's just gotten to like it more. Day 2 and 3 have been feeding frenzies. I guess that he's been watching us enough. And believe me, that's a lot of watching!
The boxes of infant cereal here cost around $10 a box and are rather hard to come by. However, a 5lb bag of brown rice is about $5. That's equal to about 1000 boxes of cereal :) Maybe not that much, but close. It's pretty easy to make. We make it a powder with our coffee grinder (well cleaned I assure you), which is surprisingly better than using our food processor. Then you simmer it until soft. Adding nothing. Then it is served with choicest vintage of breast milk to smooth it out and add that all important iron that those fancy cereals add.
It's worked out pretty well. I think that we are going to try to make all our baby food. Baby food goes for about $4 a bottle here. Think about that. I'd have to give up my habit of eating breakfast and lunch :) These aren't even really good baby foods either. I'm talking pears and carrots. It's not like it's beef Wellington. I could make this stuff in my sleep....and likely will at times.
I just can't wait until he's up for my spaghetti or Moons dwangjung chigae. Yum, yum.
