Drumroll, Please!
If you watched the Ultra-sound video below closely and you have experience with this, you might have been able to tell the gender of the baby. Ultra-sounds basically show the presence or absence of genitals. The position that you are looking for it the view that looks like an office drunk sitting on the copier naked during the Christmas party :) There is either something sticking out…or there’s not.
Have I drawn this out long enough?
You really want to know?
Getting frustrated yet?
Heh, heh, heh.... :)
Let’s just say that BabyCraig’s Blog will soon be changed to Samuel Craig’s Birth Blog.
It’s a boy!

15 Weeks - AGAIN!
Just as I said. We are going to have to turn the clock back a little. The OB's office called and told Moon that they would like to get us in for an Ultra-sound ASAP because they suspected that she was not as far along as we though (impacting some other tests as well).
So, we had our first Ultra-sound today and found out the gender of the baby. Think I'm going to tell you now? Well, NO! Not that we won't let that out of the bag soon, but I promised Moon that she could break the news this time. I'll post it afterwards :)
See the Ultra-Sound video below. The original audio was just static, so I added a little something, something to it. See how you like it. It's more like a music video now.

Week 16 - another visit to the OB
Week 16 means another visit to the OB. I hope that every week is as uneventful as this one.
We went to the Dr. on Wednesday. We listened to the baby's heartbeat, which is always a thrill. Moon wants to buy one of those machines :)
Moon also had to take another blood test. She loves those! It doesn't help when the tech taking the sample can't hit a vein. She had to plug Moon in both arms and still only ended up with a half tube of the premium red. Poor girl had a sore arm for days :(
We set up an appointment for the ultra-sound at the beginning of November (Week 20). We are really impatient to find our the sex of the baby. Moon's just impatient in general and I can't wait to get a domain name for the baby. Yes, yes, I am a geek.
This week also seems to have been better all around for Moon. Her appetite seems to be coming back and her stomach is more settled.

Week 15 - a surprising pregnancy symptom
Many things change during pregnancy, from your taste in food to your complexion. However, some changes are more surprising than others...
I'll foreground this by saying that I have Moon's full permission to tell this story :)
Yesterday, Moon had the most amazing realization. We were on one of our weekly visits to Costco. I had to excuse myself when we were at the checkout and didn't meet up with her again until the parking lot.
She looks at me and says,"I must not be gaining too much weight. Some guy hit on me inside."
Never one to let a wonderful observation go to waste, I had to point out that it may also have something to do with changes in her upper-body.
She immediately looks down at her chest, looks up with eyes wide in surprise (and a slight grin) and exclaims, "I have boobs! This is the first time my boobs are bigger than my stomache."
(I thought about telling her that it wouldn't last long...then I thought better about it ;)
That's Week 15

Week 14
Well, week 14 has come and gone. We are still waiting for that wonderful 2nd trimester and the promise of a 3 month vacation from nasty symptoms. Until then, Moon is still suffering a bit. She's trying not to complain, but the poor girl has been fatigued, had a running nose, sore throat, and gagging for that last 2 months. I think she's about to give up :)
We are both beginning to think that the break will never come. You hear horror stories about women with morning sickness for nine months....let's hope that we move beyond that.
I'm not losing much sleep, but I am spending a lot of time planning out meals. I'm the nutrition specialist in our house (ironic, isn't it?). If there is one think I know, it is fattening people up :) But seriously, though we should be thinking about balanced diets all the time, it isn't until something like this that you re-evaluate your eating patterns. Unfortunately, I think that I'm gaining more than Moon is. We'll have to re-re-evaluate.
In the last week I have found out that 3 more of my childhod friends are expecting as well. I won't name them all now because I don't want to "out" them if it is not common knowledge. I think that this is such a trip. There must have been something about this summer that agreed with the kids from Northbrook.
